I'm one of those types of people who really does want to change the world...one day someone told me "you're never going to change the world, you can go pick at one corner of it all you want, but it's not going to change much" She also said that I needed a teflon skin and toughen up! Well to tell you the truth I don't want to. I love being a highly sensitive person and the world needs more of us out there (only 15% of us are). I love the gift I've been given and soon the world will see...www.dignitygowns.com take care

This looks like a stable community with active people that I can actually read - and that is rare to find!

I am here to learn and participate. How could I best get involved?

YES, how true, some of my best friends live in another country too, we always say that we are holding down the four corners of the world and I keep them with me in my heart all the time, and we talk on the phone and Skype too, and another thing is 4-1 way ICHAT!
That is wonderful too.
Friends make life worthwhile... and are one of the things I am most "great-ful" for in my life.

Laura and I are TOGETHER in Utah today - amazing to have CLOSE FRIENDS that you rarely get to see! GRATI-TIP: we just realized we should SKYPE more than use the phone so we can SEE EACH OTHER'S FACES; it makes us so happy! Skype is FREE and available to EVERYBODY but don't forget to brush your hair if you wake up looking like COUSIN IT.

It's SATURDAY...my kids are with their dad, I'm having my coffee and it's QUIET. I am great-ful to know that all is well in our immediate world - for now! I am also REALLY GREAT-FUL to see how many people out there are responding to the Count Your Blessings message - so THANK YOU, all of you, for uniting with us. If we all help each other remember to appreciate what we have, it will be easier not to forget! :)

We have three girls, 4 mounth old, 4 year old and 5 year old daughter. My wife and I every night before we go to bed review the blessing that are girls are to us. The blessing or humor, sacrifice, patience, knowledge, excitement and much more. We are both become better people by trying to become better parents. This impacts our relationship as husband and wife, our relationships with friends and family, our focus and dedication at work and ultimately our relationship with our girls. Bottom line by reflecting on our blessings, we are become better parents and ultimately better people.

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS GAME GIVEAWAY:

Between now and December 25th, we’re going to giveaway ONE DOZEN Chicken Soup for the Soul: Count Your Blessings Games to 12 lucky families - yours could be the one! Here’s how to participate:

Send us an email at info@countyourblessingsgame.com. In 200 words or less, share why your family especially needs to “count their blessings” this year.

We’ll be posting these entries on our site weekly, and asking our community to vote for the winners.

Because we love hearing how our game helps families connect and feel more grateful, our one request is that winners share with our community how playing our game has helped them “look on the bright side” more often!

Gratefully,

Laura, Elizabeth and Rachel

Ever wish there was an easy way to help your children and family “connect” and be more appreciative? Ever wish you heard the words “thank you” a bit more at home? In the midst of your hectic life, could you use a little help remembering to count your blessings? Then READ ON…we’re Elizabeth and Laura, two “Inventor moms” that have had the same problem, so we decided to create a solution that works for everyone.
TIME magazine says that “counting your blessings” is the #1 path to happiness – science is proving that feeling grateful on a regular basis can greatly improve your life. But, like many of you, we’re VERY BUSY MOMS. Between homework and hockey, choir and carpool, how does anyone remember to “count their blessings” every day? We’re lucky to remember to take a head “count” of our children! We found ourselves always reminding our kids to be grateful and appreciative. But then we realized something – if it’s a challenge for us to remember, how can we really help our families?

Laura’s been making people laugh for more than twenty years since co-inventing the mega hit game “BALDERDASH,” I love to design just about anything, and co-inventor Rachel Naples, who introduced us, is a terrific writer. We’d read a lot about how children (and adults) learn best through play and we figured a COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS GAME was a terrific, inexpensive way to get families “playing their way” to feeling more grateful. We knew our magic “formula” had to have lots of funny and engaging questions and logic so that the kids would stay at the table.

We came up with ideas like the “Thank Tank,” and the zany “Look on the Bright Side Glasses” that players wear to “see” things in a different light. For example, kids might be asked to “sweep up” three silver linings in having to clean their room. Or, you may have to find three blessings-in-disguise that make losing your phone a reason to “cell”-ebrate!” We thought about our kids at school, our lives at work and home, and kept on going, adding in some really inspiring quotes, trivia and a “coin toss” for a bit of strategy.

The results were amazing – playing “Count Your Blessings” and learning to “look on the bright side” felt so good that all the kids that helped us test the game started really “getting it” - they were acting more grateful without even knowing it! And, so did the grown-ups…because counting your blessings is contagious.

Thank you for visiting our site - we’re grateful to share silver linings with your family!
